Voice chatbot9/20/2023 ![]() Have fun-I know you will.ĬhatGPT went viral in late 2022/early 2023, attracting the attention of the entire world in a matter of days. Anything on top of entering your prompt and receiving the output is very welcome, from multi-language support to connecting directly to the internet.īased on my research and experiences interacting with them, here are the best AI chatbots for you to try. ![]() With a few exceptions, each app on this list is a conversational AI chatbot (I'll explain any exceptions as I get to them).Įxtra features. There are lots of ways to interact with AI, but the staple of ChatGPT is interacting with the model through a chat window. But if you do want something more technical, hop on Hugging Face, and try the latest models yourself.Ĭhat experience. There shouldn't be any advanced setup or technical requirements to talk to a chatbot, when you can do it quickly (and for free) with ChatGPT. I didn't include any platforms that couldn't generate coherent language, that delivered wildly innacurate information on a consistent basis, or that couldn't move a conversation forward naturally.Įasy access. Given that most AI chatbots are using GPT right now, they'll generally give you similar-ish content. With that in mind, here's what I was keeping an eye out for as I tested each AI chatbot online:Īccuracy and responsiveness. (Some apps on this list use non-GPT models, which are proprietary to the company that built the app.) But even when that's the case, the app developers can pass additional commands to configure how the model replies, so you may see different results when you try each chatbot, even though they're running on the same engine. Most of the apps on this list are also powered by OpenAI's GPT models. For more context, take a look at our breakdown of ChatGPT vs. While the app takes care of the features-for example, saving your conversation history-the AI model takes care of the actual interpretation of your input and the calculations to provide an answer. This model runs the prompt through its systems and returns the results back to the app, so you can read them in a conversational chatbot style. The app takes the prompts you write and passes them to the AI model. ![]() This will help you understand what's interesting about each AI chatbot and use it to your advantage.ĬhatGPT is an app created by OpenAI that lets users interact with its AI models: GPT-3 (on the free version) and GPT-4 (in early access for paid users). ![]() Internet-connected: Microsoft Bing AI, Perplexity, YouChat, KoalaChatįor content writing: Jasper Chat, Chat by Copy.ai, ChatSonic, ZenoChatįor coding auto-complete: GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhispererīuild your own AI chatbot with no-code: Zapier Interfacesīefore we dive in, let's talk a bit about how ChatGPT works. It's likely that between the time I write this and the time you read it, there will be even more AI chatbots on the market, but for now, here are the most interesting ones to watch. You'll even see how you can build your own AI chatbot if you don't find what you're looking for here. You'll find a bit of everything here, including ChatGPT alternatives that'll help you create content, AI chatbots that can search the web, and a few just-for-fun options. Dupe away app review9/20/2023 ![]() If we judge our clothes on use value – how warm it keeps you, etc – we have more than we would ever need. ![]() That’s the only way out of the trends madness. It shouldn’t even be legal to release products made by Syrian refugee children, or that have destroyed the Amazon.Įthically, there’s no match for “buying nothing”. ![]() I agree! The emphasis shouldn’t be on consumers. That’s way too involved for the average person. A multinational like Coty is, and the name is licensed. Most aren’t making their own perfume either. That’s how they make their money – sunglasses, belts. The lipstick you buy from a designer brand could be nearly identical to a high-street one, but because you’ve seen the designer’s couture dress at the Met Gala you buy it. Buying them is hacking the system, scamming the scammers … Some dupes are made by the same factories as the “originals”. It’s as if everyone’s realised the price of designer items is rarely about the materials and labour that go into them. They seem accepted: magazines and influencers speak about them. So I don’t think it would be possible to get rid of dupes altogether. Though Zara has faced charges of copying, too.įashion is about getting inspiration from the world around you. Interestingly, in clothing Zara recently accused Shein of duping their designs. With YouTube Premium, you'll get most of the features you miss, and you keep the lights and heating on for your favorite content creators.Which may explain why makeup dupes are more popular than black-market cosmetics where you can’t be sure if ingredients are safe. If you used to watch videos in Vanced and didn't have a YouTube Premium subscription, then the creators earned no money from your view. Cutting to the chase and paying for YouTube Premium will net you 90% of the features offered here anyway, and you'll get the added benefit of supporting your favorite creators. If Google is really going after YouTube alternatives, then these apps will all be whittled down eventually. The problem with apps like these is that they will always be playing a cat-and-mouse game. They're likely not going to be perfect Vanced replacements, but they'll certainly get very close. These apps have the important features you know and love, so you won't miss out. While you can continue to use the app for a while, there will eventually be a point of time when you will need to either fall back to the official YouTube app or look for a Vanced replacement as an alternative.īecause of all the benefits of Vanced, we put together a list of the best alternatives to prepare you for whenever Vanced stops working. However, as Google makes changes to the YouTube platform, it's likely that some aspects will break as time goes on until, eventually, Google requires users to update to a newer version. The last versions of YouTube Vanced will continue to work for now since they're based on versions of the YouTube app from last year. Though if you have Vanced Manager already installed, you can download and install YouTube Vanced, Vanced Music, and Vanced microG. ![]() The team verified that it was legitimate, and had no choice but to pull down download links for Vanced.Īs it stands, you can no longer download Vanced Manager from the Vanced website. We reached out to one of the admins on the team's Discord server shortly after the news broke, and we were told that they were instructed to refrain from using YouTube's name and distributing packages that violate YouTube's Terms of Service. ![]() SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT What happened to Vanced?Īddressing the elephant in the room, Vanced was taken offline by its developers after the team received a cease-and-desist order from Google. Following Vanced's shutdown, there are a number of alternatives that are worth taking a look at instead. With Vanced, even better was the ability to log in and watch YouTube on Huawei devices, something that you could only do in a browser otherwise. While advertisements are part-and-parcel of any online service these days, alternatives such as Vanced offer a whole lot more than just advertisement blocking.įeatures that alternatives include are things such as more granular video playback options, device spoofing (which was helpful in bypassing restrictions), bringing back the YouTube dislike button, SponsorBlock, and more. Despite paying for a YouTube Premium subscription, many of us also used to use Vanced for the additional features that it offered. YouTube is a platform we all know and love, but it's one that doesn't necessarily provide you with all of the features you may want out of the box.

Vegetarian restaurants near me9/20/2023 ![]() There are several different broths available, such as Tan Tan, Ankake, and Miso Shio Koji, paired with eggless noodles of authenticity you can taste because the owners and chefs are all Japanese. Amongst the classic Japanese curries, Karaage, Tempura and Gyoza, you’ll discover Neko Neko’s signature dish - vegan ramen. Although technically a pescatarian restaurant, you won't find a better-stocked menu filled to the brink with veggie options. This addition to the list won’t be a surprise to anyone - if you know, you know. If you’re looking for something more hearty, the Kousa, which is baked zucchini filled with wild rice and spices is ripe for sharing, as is the Makhlouta, a wholegrain Lebanese stew with lentils, chickpeas and potatoes. Starters include Shanklish Salata, a salad with sun-dried yogurt cheese, and Tabboulé, a parsley salad with burghul cracked wheat. Teta Mona, named after the owners' grandmother, serves up some real nourishing food, just like Teta (grandmother) used to make. If you’re in the mood for some Lebanese soul food with a healthy amount of vegetarian options, then you’re in luck. The cherry on top is that Tahina is super affordable, with single dishes starting at $13 and not exceeding $21. The roasted cauliflower with hummus, lemon and Tahini is a popular option, as well as the Sabich plate, which has roasted eggplant, hummus, potatoes and salad, drizzled with Zhoug and Tahini. ![]() You can choose from the green variety, which is made with parsley, coriander, and mint, or the red kind, where the filling is mixed with chilli and red peppers. ![]() The Falafel is acclaimed here, and enough to mark this restaurant as one of the best vegetarian places in Melbourne. ![]() Originating in Northcote and having opened up a second location in Fitzroy, this Israeli restaurant is serving up a nearly entirely vegetarian menu, with a few vegan options for good measure. Vanilla fudge band9/20/2023 ![]() ![]() Maybe there were guitarists like Vince, but Mark was certainly better than most of the other keyboard players around.” There were certainly no other bass players like Tim. The other drummers weren’t technical like I was. We’d listened to the doo-wop, the R&B and the Motown, and they didn’t have the chops that we had. “The other bands didn’t have the vocals that we had. “When I got together with these guys it was, ‘Great voices, great musicians’,” Appice says with a Brooklyn/Italian accent that could grace any episode of The Sopranos (and the sharp dress sense to match). “And he could sing too, which meant there were now four singers in the band.” “We needed someone with more chops, and Carmine definitely had that,” Bogert says. So they poached Carmine Appice from another band. But The Pigeons were increasingly aware that their drummer was not strong enough for the style they were developing. It was a competitive scene, and playing covers was an obvious way to get an audience’s attention. Tim Bogert, Mark Stein and Vince Martell were in a band called The Pigeons playing the same circuit as The Hassles (which included a youthful Billy Joel) and The Vagrants (with Leslie West, later of Mountain). The members of Vanilla Fudge came from the thriving Long Island rock scene of the mid 60s. Deep Purple are another band who freely admit the influence Vanilla Fudge had on them. But then Stein was Pascali’s hero when the latter was a kid watching Vanilla Fudge at the San Francisco Fillmore back in 1968.Ī few days later Robert Plant got up and jammed with the Fudge at their gig in Stourbridge in a gesture of lasting affection for the band who helped Led Zeppelin crack America. And the gig that evening at Camden Underworld leaves no one in any doubt that the original spirit of Vanilla Fudge lives on in the current band, which includes guitarist Teddy Rondinelli and keyboard player Bill Pascali who, as Appice rightly observes, is “scarily” reminiscent of Mark Stein. But no matter.īogert and Appice can claim to be (or at least have been) one of rock’s mightiest rhythm sections. Keyboard player Mark Stein, however, hasn’t played with them for several years. They are the only original members of the band in the current Fudge line-up, although guitarist Vinnie Martell was with them up until a few months ago. Carmine Appice and Tim Bogert are sitting in the bar of London’s Russell Hotel, preparing for a European tour. That’s right, the Tim Bogert: another third of Beck, Bogert & Appice, and the other founder member of Cactus. And bassist Tim Bogert played every note as though someone was poking him up the arse with a 2,000-volt cattle prod. Keyboard player Mark Stein’s head frequently disappeared from view below the keys while his hands kept pummelling away. On stage Vanilla Fudge could be as demented as their music. ![]() Then it opened up to reveal a line of little red Vox amps that was mostly The Yardbirds’ stuff.” So when the gig opened there was this lone spotlight that shone down to the bass drum that said ‘Vanilla Fudge’. ![]() Our roadie, who used to work with The Yardbirds, said he could borrow their stuff. “We’d come over with hardly anything, and we knew The Who were going to have a wall of equipment. That’s right, the Carmine Appice: legendary drummer with Rod ‘ D’Ya Think I’m Sexy?’ Stewart (a song that he co-wrote with Stewart), one third of the famous Beck, Bogert & Appice, and a founder member of the lesser-known but equally significant Cactus. At least that’s what the newspapers said,” drummer Carmine Appice recalls. ![]() It may have spent only one week in the Top 20, but that was enough for the band to scamper over from New York for a promotional visit that included gigs at London’s trendy Speakeasy Club, and the Saville Theatre where they supported The Who. But before You Keep Me Hangin’ On had shown any sign of life in the US it started climbing the UK charts. Quite why Britain should have taken to Vanilla Fudge before rock fans the band’s American homeland is something of a mystery. ![]()

In Ice Age: Scrat Tales, during the interview, Michael Knapp added that as a result, they had to remodel Scrat by re-furring, re-materializing and re-rigging the character. The copyright to “Scrat” was granted to Fox. She ultimately settled with Disney, which had purchased Blue Sky Studios, for the "Sqrat" trademark, but failed to stop Scrat from appearing in future Disney works despite the names being phonetically equivalent. Initially, Chris Wedge claimed that the character was created by illustrator Peter de Sève in late 1999 while crafting a clay model, and that the name emerged naturally from the hybrid of squirrel and rat. Ninja naruto online games9/20/2023 ![]() The game suffers diminishing returns at an alarming rate when investing into the game, due to it being locked off after performing activities or purchasing goods (premium purchases). ![]() The extra items for the most part are little perks that can go a long when trying to face tough enemies even if the numbers seem small, but can be gathered very quickly as I found when setting up an account with those items. Whilst I did receive code for items in the game, these did little in the way of progressing through the game. Along with level requirements, it limits the progress through the main story. Like any free to play MMO, the game features a fixed energy bar (not changing based on level). If it had taken a Dragon Ball XenoVerse approach in terms of narrative, riffing off the original content with its own spin, it would’ve made it a fuller gaming experience that could appeal to the most hardcore Naruto fans but the Naruto story just feels tacked on content. But this isn’t capitalised on, which makes the lack of dialogue more apparent with its couple of sentences followed by more fighting. Whilst other parts, namely filler content, grounds you to the Ninja world which leads back to the main Naruto story. Parts of the story don’t match to what you do, disregarding you as a character in the world. Having followed the series since 2006, the story feels tacked onto a game that would be entirely competent as its own entity with an original story. Translation oddities aside, this isn't the Maito Guy I love #WheresMyGuyStand?īut then there’s my biggest issue, the fact it’s labeled under the Naruto franchise. Following the Manga closely for the most part, it plays through the main story arc with filler content to make you as the player interact with the world of Naruto as if you were a character within that universe. ![]() ![]() Secondly, Johnson’s eccentric performance in Oil City Confidential brought him to the attention of the producers of HBO’s Game Of Thrones, who cast Wilko in the first two series as mute executioner Ilyn Payne. By then, Feelgood front man Lee Brilleaux had died of cancer and of the three remaining original members, one stood out as being curiously charismatic. Firstly, film director Julien Temple, who documented the rise and fall of The Sex Pistols in The Great Rock And Roll Swindle and The Filth And the Fury made it a triumvirate of rock docs when he chronicled the career of Dr Feelgood in his 2009 film Oil City Confidential. Then, three things happened that helped to pluck Wilko from his relative obscurity. The performances back then were amazing, but there was no escaping that Johnson was only playing to a comparatively small number of enthusiasts in the pub it was a far cry from his heady days in Dr Feelgood. The Cricketers Kennington (Stephen Harris) Don’t look for The Cricketers now incidentally sadly, like so many others, it’s a casualty of the decline of grass roots music venues. It blew me away and fostered a love affair with the man that has endured to this day.Īs soon as I was old enough to attend live music on my own, Wilko and his band were a primary target. The show was called Rock School and on it, Johnson showed off his remarkable technique for apparently playing both lead and rhythm guitar at the same time. The first time I ever saw him perform was a few years later on a BBC programme aimed at impressionable teenage wannabe musicians (a.k.a me). ![]() ![]() As a result, I was not cognisant of him at the height of his fame. I was nine when Wilko Johnson left the band. I was three years old in 1971, when Dr Feelgood first brought their dirty RnB out of the ‘Thames Delta’ of Canvey Island and into the mainstream. A specific event triggered it, but the seeds were sewn when I was in my teens and it all revolved around one man: Dr Feelgood guitarist, Wilko Johnson. I may have been attending gigs since I was first able to express a preference, but the documenting of them waited until I was well into my forties a mid-life crisis of epic proportions. Night at the pub? Cinema and a meal? No thanks, I’ll take the gig. The how will follow in part two, but for now here’s the why. In the end, I’ve staved off stir-craziness with MS Word and a couple of RockShot articles: I’ve decided to detail the how and the why I started shooting live music. I’ve contemplated re-watching Breaking Bad for the fifth time. For this music photographer, a cough that doesn’t want to quit means I’ve really got excess time on my hands. With the country heading into lockdown and an absence of live music to enjoy, sadly, us music photographers suddenly find we’ve got excess time on our hands. ![]()

Lightshot screenshot app9/20/2023 ![]() ![]() you need to explicitly allow it permissions on Mac OS to capture your screen, and it needs to be running with the capture keys configured (I set mine to Command Shift 9, but I don't recall the default) in order to have it capture. How to Take a Screenshot Using Lightshot To. Surprised to read all the reviews from people saying they couldn't figure out how to open it. The application will install on your computer and youll be able to take screenshots using one key on your keyboard. Pretty strange.ĭefinitely recommend this for anyone needing a quick snipping tool with markup support though. To be clear, the link loads just fine, it's just that the only thing in the loaded image is the lightshot logo. The actual capture doesn't seem to be there. The only issue I'm seeing currently is that no matter what I've selected to be captured, uploading the screenshot to the cloud and copying the link results in just an image of the lightshot logo. After installing it on my M1 mac, I found that the features are pretty much all there and despite feeling a little clunky compared to the windows version, it got the job done. I've been using lightshot on windows for a couple years now and have loved it. I hope they consider improving that someday. Lightshot is an okay program that is 80% of the way there but that last 20% of missing user experience consideration is really noticeable. It has the classic Pen, Brush and Blur tools, and you can even highlight something or add a text note. That's a shame because with some UX changes they could do it all in the one tool. You can edit your screenshot online with the powerful Pixlr Editor. I tried to use these features for a while but now I have mostly given up and use it for the one task of selecting an area of the screen to save as an image and then open that saved image in a different image editor to do the markup. Adding text is infuriating because there is no editor box to allow changing font size/type - though I've heard there are some hidden hotkeys like scrollwheel for some of this but I haven't learned the secret language to make these hidden Lightshot features closer to useable. The color selector being colored pencils is strange and not very useful - I wish it had a simpler color selector or allowed hex codes/color names to ensure I was using the same colors consistently between screenshots. In fact, it takes only two clicks to capture a screenshot with this tool. The interface is simple, there is nothing unnecessary, and it is light in weight. Selecting different tools barely shows a difference in the button highlighting or in the cursor so it's hard to tell what tool you're about to use. LightShot A very popular software that’s been around for a long time, LightShot allows you to take customizable screenshots in a matter of seconds. Lightshot is the best and fastest way to take a customizable screenshot. I often times find myself trying to draw a box to highlight something and instead it moves the frame of what's selected instead so the whole screenshot image changes. On the surface it does a similar job but the usability is much worse. Lightshot really makes me miss Greenshot. ![]() |
